Inspired by history and crafted for today, these 14mm stud earrings feature a replica of an ancient Alexander the Great coin, celebrated by numismatist scholars for its historical significance.
This coin design was widely minted and traded for nearly three centuries, often found in archaeological caches across the ancient world. When we stumbled upon these dead-stock studs in a Manhattan warehouse, they were missing stones and bore signs of age, evoking the thrill of an archaeological discovery.
In our studio, we revived these vintage castings—originally made in the 20th century—with careful cleaning and a worn gold finish. Each stud is crowned with a perfectly sized freshwater pearl, creating a blend of ancient charm and sustainable style. Set on stainless steel posts, these earrings honor the legacy of ancient shopping habits while offering a unique, meaningful accessory for those who appreciate history and craftsmanship.

How to Care for Your Gather Brooklyn Jewelry:
- To refresh the shine, give your piece a gentle wipe with a polishing cloth or some mild soapy water. As all metal tarnishes when it’s exposed to air, a simple wipe on the regular maintains the color of gold or silver.
- Remove your jewelry before exercise or taking a shower. Gold, silver, and brass are all soft metals that can wear faster when there’s too much moisture or friction involved. It’s a good idea to remove them before bed too.
- Store your pieces in our packaging. The post-consumer poly bag and linen pouch will help prolong color and shine.
